  • Kauai Beach Villas<br /> <br /> Our 2005 pilgrimage started out well even before we left home. We received a call asking if we “minded” being switched from a “lagoon” villa to an “oceanfront” villa. Minded!? We jumped at the chance and our love affair with Kaua’i was renewed and enhanced. The view from the living room above tells it all. As a result, we purchased an oceanfront unit and never want to be off the ocean again!! <br /> <br /> Again, please enjoy this book, gallery, and the annual volumes that will follow.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Our Kauai - 2005<br /> <br /> This was the year of “discovery.” First, as noted, we discovered oceanfront living. Second we discovered helicopter tours after being weathered out in 2004. Third, and maybe most significantly, we discovered Polihale Beach, a west-side wonder that’s hard to get to, but worth every minute of the jarring ride over the “road less traveled.” Finally, and unfortunately, we discovered the pain and expense of getting stuck in the sand miles from civilization! In all, though, it was another awesome visit.<br /> <br /> Bill captured our travels with his “new” Sigma SD9 digital SLR equipped with the Foveon “Full Color Sensor” chip. The Foveon sensor is made for Kaua’i, with it’s sun and sea environment.   • Sunday, August 21st, 2005<br /> <br /> Another awe inspiring sunrise from Kauai Beach Villas.
  • You never get tired of this daily wonder of nature.
  • Bill has the camera ready every morning.
  • Looking north along the east coast towards Wailua.
  • View of Opekaa Falls. There was much more water flowing last year in 2004, but they are always beautiful.

  • Burning sugar cane is a regular event on Kaua’i, but we had not seen the burning at night. This is looking north again towards Kapaa.
  • The moonlight glittering off the ocean was a calming sight.
  • Monday, August 22nd, 2005: Sunrise! Another beautiful day ahead exploring Kaua’i.
  • The first order of the day was the long awaited helicopter tour. The beautiful Haupu Ridge was the first awesome sight after takeoff from Lihue.
